- Don’t wear caps, or t-shirts printed with the names of other tourist destinations.
- Leave the jewelry at home.
- Pack light (only tourists carry big suitcases and garment bags.)
- Casual, casual, casual. Don’t be afraid to look a little disheveled.
- Dump the fat wallet and use local currency
- Don’t get sunburned.
- No Socks! (flip flops, sandals, or Crocks)
But it is okay to bring a lot’s of wet wipes, tissues, hand sanitizer, bug spray etc. Just keep ‘em all hidden in the bottom of that worn out bag you brought. So get your vaccinations, bring your camera and have fun.
This is the way I usually dress.
ReplyDeleteJust the opposite when you go on a cruise, except the no socks part.
ReplyDeletei find this to be all wrong thinking. i typically wear my authoring clothes so i come across as muriel hemingway, the famous writer. and that attire as itsme knows is pink izod shirt, plaid shorts and sandals with socks that match your underpants. it's amazing how many people come up to me and say, "hey muriel, can i have your autograph" (all in that carribean accent of course), and then i have to say, "sorry mon, but ese deader than cement. i'm cranelegs." it's a pretty cool feeling.
